If you're on the lookout for something to do on Saturday, 5 April, pop by Government House in Canberra between 10am and 2pm. Entry is free, and while you're at it, you can park your trusty steed on Dunrossil Drive. It's a chance to wander around one of Australia's historic landmarks, say hi to the Governor-General, and get the scoop on what they do and why it's relevant today, apart from looking very important.
To sweeten the deal, there's a scavenger hunt—because who doesn't love a bit of treasure hunting in a royal setting? There will also be stalls scattered around the grounds to peruse. It's like a mini-fair with a side of history. Plus, in celebration of 50 years of the Australian honours system, expect some cool displays from national institutions and organizations. It's basically a family day with a dash of education and a sprinkle of fun, where getting lost in history is totally encouraged.
